EXPO PACK México Offers Many Educational Opportunities

CDMX, México; May 20, 2024 — The biennial EXPO PACK México (June 4–7; 2024, EXPO Santa Fe Mexico, Mexico City), produced by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, is expected to draw more than 20,000 attendees from throughout Mexico and Latin America. Over the four-day event, attendees will find the latest packaging and processing solutions from more than 700 exhibitors and benefit from a strong educational program.

The show’s educational component includes free Innovation Stage sessions directly on the show floor, the Young Professionals Networking Breakfast, three keynote addresses and the Vision 2030: Continuous Improvement Forum Breakfast. The Innovation Stage presents half-hour sessions each day of the show on a variety of topics including sustainability, automation and the latest packaging and processing trends.

The first keynote address, Carbon Neutral Packaging, a Possible Reality, given by Griscelda Ramos, sustainability director of Natura Mexico, and Carolina Velásquez, vice president of corporate excellence at Grupo Hada, begins on Tuesday, June 4. The speakers will describe how packaging choices can minimize carbon footprint and offset emissions, discuss technologies and regulations, share tools for quickly calculating carbon emissions, present success stories focused on renewable materials and waste management, and address packaging neutrality, a crucial element to achieve circularity in the industry.

On Wednesday, June 5, the Latin American Chapter of the Packaging & Processing Women’s Leadership Network will present the keynote, Gender Equality and Diversity in the Packaging Industry in Latin America. The panel of speakers consists of Luciana Pellegrino, president of the World Packaging Organisation; Naimeth Ramos, director of logistics at Unilever México; and Luiza Adelita de Andrade, manager of packaging and sustainability at Walmart México and Central America.

The keynote address on Thursday, June 6, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Is Revolutionizing Packaging: Challenges, Opportunities, and Innovation, will be presented by Germán Villalobos, an international expert in AI and robotics in packaging processes. Villalobos will describe how to use AI to create customized and efficient packaging, drive sustainability through life cycle assessments and material optimization, and empower decisions with data analytics tools.

PMMI’s Young Professionals Network will host a networking breakfast from 9:30–11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5. This event for packaging and processing industry professionals younger than 34 years old provides an opportunity to network with peers and hear inspiring stories from an executive panel, who will share their career journeys and provide leadership insights in a discussion moderated by Jorge Izquierdo, vice president, market development, PMMI. Panel members include Edgar Bonfil Arias, director of R&D of Packaging, Kellogg's Latin America ; Alfonso Posada, director of sales and marketing, Econocorp Inc.; and Rick Nuñez, sales engineer–North & South America, PDC International Corp.

The Vision 2030: Continuous Improvement Forum Breakfast is an invitation-only event on Thursday, June 6, that focuses on technology, maintenance, and strategy. Designed to bring together consumer packaged goods companies and original equipment manufacturers, this session will address current challenges in the packaging and processing industry. Presentations by industry leaders are followed by discussion groups to exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices.
